- First and foremost, you have to check the oil level and the coolant level. The oil and coolant are essentially for the proper functioning of the engine. And the best part is that these two things can easily be checked at the comfort of your home. To check oil, all you got to do is use a dipstick to see whether the oil levels are at an optimum. To check the coolant, check the outside of the tank to see where the high and low levels are. If they are in their optimum position, then there is no need to worry. But for some reason you feel that the oil level or the coolant is not optimum then it is time to take your motorcycle for a service.
- Secondly, you have to check the tires of your motorcycle frequently. Tires are extremely important for two reasons. Firstly, worn out tires result in more fuel consumption since the engine requires more fuel to reach the same level as before and secondly, worn out tires can make your bike unstable. It is easy to check out your tires as well; all you have to do is inspect the tires for scratches and nicks. Furthermore, you have to check the air pressure within the tires to ensure that proper air pressure is maintained.
- Breaking pads degrade really quickly and need to be constantly checked. If the motorcycle’s breaking pads are worn out, it can lead to rotor and disc damage. Breaking pads can easily be inspected; all you have to do is to look at the breaking pad in your bike. The breaking pads are usually around 3mm in thickness. If you have a feeling that they look smaller or have nicks on them, then you have to get them changed, so that you don’t incur further damage to the discs.
